Kintu created the kingdom of Buganda by forcefully taking over the five (5) clans that lived in the region. To signify his victory over a clan, he would sleep in the conquered leader's home; tradition says that Buganda was the name of the first house that he slept in after his victory over Bbemba and his tribe. Buganda was later used to refer to the entire area he subdued.
Kabaka Kintu was married to Nambi Nantuttululu, his chief wife, daughter of Bakazirwendo, of the Ngeye clan.
He is reported to have fathered five (5) children, four sons and one daughter:
Kabaka Kato Kintu died at the age of thirty (30) years. He was buried at Nnono. [2]
